Grand Strand Water & Sewer Authority Headquarters

The Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority in South Carolina has grown from a utility with no assets, customers or funding in the early 1970s, into a company with more than 60,000 customers. From a limited service area east of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Authority has expanded to provide services from the North Carolina line to parts of Georgetown County. The development of the GSWSA has been instrumental in Horry County's growth from a population of 70,000 in 1970 to over 225,000 today.

To accommodate that growth and an expanding administrative staff, the Authority commissioned the construction of a new executive headquarters building three years ago. Architects Mozingo & Wallace of Myrtle Beach, SC designed a curved, one-story structure with a central circular flat roof and  four standing seam metal hip roofs, accentuating the corners of the building. Mozingo & Wallace chose an Englert Series 2500 standing seam metal Pacific Blue to cover the 10,000 square feet of sloped roofs on the building. The 16-inch wide, 24-gauge panel design was chosen for durability and aesthetics. Spann Roofing & Sheet Metal of Conway, SC handled the installation.
