ARCHITECTS, DESIGNERS & SPECIFIERS Metal Roof Specifications | |||||||||||||||
| Metal roofs have long been popular with architects for their aesthetics and long-term performance characteristics, particularly their low maintenance costs and durability. Now with the concept of sustainability so widely embraced by the architectural community, metal roofs are being seen in a new light. Metal roofing naturally contributes to the sustainable building movement. Their high recycled content, total recyclability and energy efficiency allow “cool metal roofs” to play a pivotal and important role in meeting Energy Star and LEED program requirements. Englert currently offers 24 Energy Star and LEED compliant colors, allowing architects and building owners to qualify for green building status. The new infrared-reflective pigments incorporated into Englert’s Ultra Cool metal roof coatings allow metal roofs to achieve higher reflectivity and emissivity values, even in darker colors such as black and brown. As a result, architects can now select a sustainable roof without having to sacrifice color choices and aesthetics. Color and sustainability are only two of the reasons why an architect might choose to design with metal. Metal also offers really good protection for our most valuable assets, our homes and the places where we work. And metal is elegant--there's real beauty and character in a standing seam roof. It articulates a new way of thinking about design, from the principles used to tailor it, to the manner in which it is used, to the other products and systems it engages. |
